Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four children, was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. At a young age, both her dental doctors parents and teacher mother encouraged her passion of theater and drama. The passion for theater was the one that overshadowed her initial wish to become a the first primatologist. The early success of her career and the rapid increase in recognition was a sign of her development as an actor. Following her studies in 1998 she was a participant in the French television show that scouts talent Jeunes Premiers sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to beginning her acting career in earnest. Tautou went to church and Institut Catholique de Paris during her youth, however she has since gotten rid of the aforementioned societal influences. Alongside her acting profession, she has is also pursuing modelling. She was the model for L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and is known as "The Chanel Muse". She also has a serious interest in photography and recently produced an exhibition of her work at the Arles Festival under the title Superficial. The focus of her photography is celebrity, fame and the press that scrutinised her following her fame-making debut in the film Amelie. There are also a number of photographs featuring herself. Audrey Tautou became a star and was recognized internationally for her debut role as Amelie Poulain in the film Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie gained international attention because of its box-office success. It was also praised during awards ceremonies around the globe. It's the highest-grossing French film to be released in the United States. The success of this movie brought Tautou into a wide range of roles, ranging from British dramas like Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
