April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and taking piano lessons which ignited her love for music writing. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote when she was 12 years old. At the age of 14, April devoted a great deal of time in creating song concepts and practicing her music. Soon after, April started traveling with her father as well as write her songs in NY or LA. April started to incorporate other relevant topics into the"Take my Hand song for some friends, such as peer-pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at popular Clean Beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle blogger who has a growing fan base. Lockhart was never born having a left-handed hand, which is what makes her what she is. It's just not all the facts. So, Lockhart's Instagram account isn't afraid to talk about her disability, but it's not focused on her disability either. It's a reminder. that we are all a part of a multitude and that we are all unique and that we're much greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I don't think that should define me. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability because I have plenty to offer." It doesn't impact my daily life. I carry on my business as usual and have developed my own ways to adapt. The same is true for my personality, and that it is something to be talked about. Lockhart encourages us to keep going with self-acceptance. She admits that she has had periods where she felt insecure about wearing certain clothing styles which showed her arms. Now she wears whatever outfit she likes and uploads photos on Facebook with pride. Self-love, she says, is a kind of journey. "I believe that you'll ever get there," she said. The same is true for everybody regardless of their degree of self-confidence. The people you surround yourself with who truly know your personal story and who can look inside your soul are the best people to remind you of what you're concerned about.
